My name is George C. Joseph. I am the sole owner of Sunshine Dodge-Isuzu, a family owned and operated business in Melbourne, Florida. My family bought and paid for this automobile franchise 35 years ago in 1974. I am the second generation to manage this business.
We currently employ 50+ people and before the economic slowdown we employed over 70 local people. We are active in the community and the local chamber of commerce. We deal with several dozen local vendors on a day to day basis and many more during a month. All depend on our business for part of their livelihood. We are financially strong with great respect in the market place and community. We have strong local presence and stability.
I work every day the store is open, nine to ten hours a day. I know most of our customers and all our employees. Sunshine Dodge is my life.
On Thursday, May 14, 2009 I was notified that my Dodge franchise, that we purchased, will be taken away from my family on June 9, 2009 without compensation and given to another dealer at no cost to them. My new vehicle inventory consists of 125 vehicles with a financed balance of 3 million dollars. This inventory becomes impossible to sell with no factory incentives beyond June 9, 2009. Without the Dodge franchise we can no longer sell a new Dodge as “new,” nor will we be able to do any warranty service work. Additionally, my Dodge parts inventory, (approximately $300,000.) is virtually worthless without the ability to perform warranty service. There is no offer from Chrysler to buy back the vehicles or parts inventory.
Our facility was recently totally renovated at Chrysler’s insistence, incurring a multi-million dollar debt in the form of a mortgage at Sun Trust Bank.
HOW IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CAN THIS HAPPEN?
THIS IS A PRIVATE BUSINESS NOT A GOVERNMENT ENTITY
This is beyond imagination! My business is being stolen from me through NO FAULT OF OUR OWN. We did NOTHING wrong.
This atrocity will most likely force my family into bankruptcy. This will also cause our 50+ employees to be unemployed. How will they provide for their families? This is a total economic disaster.
HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN IN A FREE MARKET ECONOMY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

Think back to the November Election in which Obama raved “I have a Plan”. With his slick tonge he captured the popular vote in America. After the election he was asked what his plan was to get america out of this recession? He still today has no valuable plan.
I’m with you George, i am a small business owner also. I have been forced to lay-off my employee’s one by one. Their is no real clear reason how this recession started in the first place except for big business raising it’s prices to the point that the american people suffered. When it back fired on the big businesses, they were the one’s that Obama gave bail-out money to. What about small business bail-out money? Considering we are the backbone of America! We are the ones employing the local people!
George, find a way to keep your business a float! Do whatever it takes to stay in business. Then all of us and our employee’s will dig out of this government caused recession and again vote out the individual’s who are “laying in bed with big business”. Long live the American Dream of Small Business Ownership!!!

There may be more to this stroy…. Looks like Politics have come into play on who Obama chooses which dealerships to close. Funny how Obama promotes him government as the most ‘transparent’ but has not given any metrics on which dealerships were closed, so making the closing based on political ties seems reasonable. This is why the government should not get into the private sector. If found to be true, I would say this would be a impeachable offense.

You lost your new car franchise because you put your emphasis, enthusiasm, and money into your used car business. Your advertising on TV was low class and absurd. Never did you show a new car. Always showing used and screaming at the viewers, you did not solicit new car buyers. As a result of your clever ads you sold very few new cars. Chrysler, in an attempt to survive, decided to eliminate poor performing dealerships. What nonsense are you trying to make people believe. Obama? Not Obama. Joseph.

What does Chrysler say and bear in mind they can pretty much say whatever they want. What does he have to gain if hes lying. How about his bookkeepers and accountant? If he really did “modernize” his location at the behest of Chrysler then it sure looks as if they are stealing his franchise.

After looking this up to see if it was real i checked snopes and found a discussion about it on their forum, not a formal page, the comments were scatterbrained and i assumed the worst, that the letter was real, then i began to see comments like – oh that company isnt good and oh we havent been a free market for awhile and other such GARBAGE CRAP! i used to be a progressive, now i am neither left or right, i am from Chicago so i knew obama was a first class fraud from day one, so i dont have any cognitive dissonance clouding my eyes.

Hi I appreciated your post. I feel that it is important when discussing diabetes to at least point out natural therapies that have been proven to be effective in controlling high blood sugar. Several natural herbs can be including in a diabetics treatment that will help keep a healthy sugar level.
