Catholics Come Home – The Boston Archdiocese launched its Catholics Come Home program.

Cardinal Sean O’Malley started the program aimed at drawing back Catholics into the fold.

The Boston Catholic Church launched the program last Ash Wednesday which is the start of the Lenten Season and ends with the Easter Sunday.

The message of the ad is simple “We miss you and our worshipping communities are diminished because of your absence.”

The message will be heralded by at least 2,500 TV and radio ads.

The message to come home comes at a time that the state is beset with religious problems particularly on its clergy sex abuse scandals.

The Boston Archdiocese has a census of 1.8 million Catholics but only sixteen percent of them are attending mass daily.

According to Cardinal O’Malley “Although the sexual abuse crisis has been such a painful episode for all of us, still we believe in the Catholic Church and we believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ”.
