London Olympics Logo - Iran has raised objections on the 2012 London Olympics logo, condemning it is racist as it spells the word “Zion”.

A formal complaint made by Iran’s National Olympic Committee was sent to the International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge. It indicated Tehran’s appeal to replace the graphics of the logo, or otherwise Iran may boycott the 2012 London game.

“There is no doubt that negligence of the issue from your side may affect the presence of some countries in the games, especially Iran which abides by commitment to the values and principles,” the letter said.

It said that the racist logo featuring bold numerals ‘2012’ has implied a figure of Zion, a biblical term which refers to the city of Jerusalem.

The IOC expressed surprise on the demands being made by the Iranians.  But the committee said the Olympic logo has already passed testing and consultation four years ago, and it just “represents the figure 2012, nothing else.”

The letter cautioned that Iranian athletes might be ordered to pass up the upcoming Olympic Game if the OIC president would not make his move on the issue.

It can be recalled that during the launching in 2007, several critics also made negative feedbacks on the designed logo. One of this was the posted animation in Youtube showing how did ‘2012’ and ‘Zion’ could be interrelated.

Singer Justin Bieber – Canadian singer Justin Bieber has uniquely raised funds by using his 17^th birthday to support kids in his favorite charity.

The fundraiser boy celebrated his birthday on March 1 but instead of gifts, he wanted a money donation to help others.

He is asking for his family, friends and fans to donate US$ 17, or any amount, in order to raise US$ 17,000 for his charity: Water.

“Together, we’ve made a big difference for many causes. Did you know that about 4,500 kids die each day from waterborne disease? By building clean water projects for villages that need them, we can prevent this! I want to make my birthday matter this year — let’s make it so more kids can grow up to have a 17th birthday like me. Join me to make a change,” said Bieber in mycharitywater.org site.

Bieber said it is his way of giving his blessings back by helping others. He said that 100% of the donation will be utilized to put up ‘clean water projects in developing countries’ with the said charity.

Justin has effortlessly gone beyond his campaign goal the day after his birthday.  The charity has been receiving amounts, both from anonymous and specific donors.

With more than a month still needed to complete the campaign, the amount is almost doubled than what the charity has expected.

“Even if you don’t have $17 to give I just ask you to go out in your community and try and make a positive difference. Even the smallest act of kindness can go a long way,” said Justin.

Not only just for popularity sake, but many people have admired the deeds made by singer Justin Bieber.

Anti Piracy Experts – Sony is in the hunt for new anti-piracy experts who could strengthen its protection against potential hackers.

The company reveals that it is getting serious in its PS3 software policy. Its post seeks for a Senior Corporate Counsel and a Senior Paralegal for Anti-Piracy and Brand Protection.

As advertised on SCEA recruitment site, successful applicants will help Sony in “developing and implementing an anti-piracy program.”

The listings stated “the program to be developed will require a strong strategic online component” and will take input from SCEA’s marketing, product development and business development departments.

The job also requires the persons’ capacity in “overseeing anti-piracy civil lawsuits and providing support to law enforcement and intellectual property.” Likewise, they must have a vast “knowledge of online investigative practices and online databases.”

The move was made after a famous hacker, George Hotz managed to extract its Playstation 3’s internal security and broadcast it online.

Said hacking has allowed anyone to operate any pirated software, especially for gaming, in the console. Hotz, along with other group of hackers, is also known for unlocking Apple’s iPhone.

Sony said that “by identifying PlayStation 3 systems that breach our guidelines and terminating their (hackers) ability to connect to PlayStation Network, we are protecting our business and preserving the honest game play experiences that you expect and deserve.”

And if anyone will be caught using the illicit software, Sony warned that their console will be immediately proscribed from the network.

The PS3 owner is making another preventive action that will help dispel company’s future hackers. Hence, it is looking for new anti-piracy experts.
