BP CEO Resigns

BP CEO Resigns – BP CEO Tony Hayward is reportedly “negotiating an exit deal”  and his resignation will be announced by the embattled oil giant Monday.

BP CEO Tony Hayward resigns

The BBC reports that BP meanwhile is continuing its company line that Tony Hayward has the “full support” of the board and top execs, but sources tell the BBC that Gulf native Bob Dudley, who took over day-to-day operations in the Gulf in the wake of Hayward’s bungling, will be named his successor.

Hayward has been widely criticized over BP’s handling of Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

His emphasis on boosting profits by cost-cutting and deferring maintenance has cost the oil company tens of billions in damages and left them facing thousands of lawsuits.
